Meet The Team
Sophie grew up in San Francisco, CA and fell in love with Philadelphia after attending Villanova University, where she studied Interpersonal and Organizational Communication and Marketing.
She feels most free in the mountains and rivers of the Pacific coast and has a deep respect for our natural home.Sophie has discovered that yoga makes it possible to access that feeling wherever she is. When off the mat, Sophie finds solace in cooking, hiking, camping, ocean waves, playing tennis, horseback riding, music, and watching tv in bed. She is also deeply committed to community outreach and child advocacy.
Chelsea first began taking yoga classes in college although it was years later before she truly dove into her practice. Like so many of us Chelsea rediscovered yoga during a difficult period in her personal life. At the time she was just hoping to dedicate some time and energy to healthy pursuits to offset the uncomfortable areas of her life but she soon found herself drawn to the physical changes created by consistent practice as well as the mental shift that was beginning to blossom within her. Chelsea’s teaching is as joyful, beautiful and energetic as she is. She understands that the physical aspects of yoga are only a small part of the journey. The true gifts are found when we begin noticing how our interaction with our world is changing.
Renee is a Philly native whose passion for meditation and wellness brought her to her first yoga class in 2016. Renee believes everybody deserves to experience the benefits of yoga, regardless of their perceived ability. " When I first started yoga, I couldn't even touch my toes, but what I learned about this practice is, it does not matter! You are more than just your body and yoga is more than just the postures." In her spare time, Renee loves cooking, hiking, trying new food, and immersing herself in cultural experiences.
Sam (she/her) is committed to placing mindfulness and body autonomy at the center of her classes by creating flows that encourage curiosity, exploration, and seeking sensation over shapes. Recognizing that everyone comes to the mat in beautifully unique bodies, Sam acknowledges that yoga is not a one size fits all practice and gives options for every pose so students can choose what version feels best for them. She received her YTT200 and Yoga Assist certifications in 2016 from Hot Asana in Durham, NC, and received anadditional Applied Anatomy and Sequencing training in 2019 from Y7 Studio in New York. Sam is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University.
Achola has been practicing yoga for over 13 years and teaching for 4. She recieved her teaching certification under the training of Corina Benner through the Wake Up Yoga training program. Although grateful for all that the yoga/ movement world has given her she is guided by the knowledge that many needs have been left unmet for nontraditional practitioners, this understanding guides her mission to provide true inclusivity in the movement world.
Becca (she/her) started practicing yoga in 2008 and it was the one space in her life where she was accepted for exactly who she was, felt like a part of a community, and where she would hear words of encouragement. Becca received her YTT 200 in 2016 and since then, has been teaching yoga all over Philadelphia County to different populations, mostly outside of a yoga studio, with the goal of making yoga accessible and available to anyone who is interested. She teaches trauma-informed classes with lots of modifications and shares mantras to remind those in class that they are more than enough. Becca recently graduated with her master’s in public health from Temple University and is a distance runner.
Felicia started practicing yoga in 2000 and noticed an immediate improvement in her well being and happiness. “I attended my first class in hopes of increasing my strength isometrically and to my surprise I became aware of an increased ability to be present, less angry, and enjoy my life as it was unfolding.”
She received her foundational yoga teacher training with Corina Benner, Victoria Ladd, and Julie Pogochefsky at Wake Up Yoga in 2010. Later, continuing her teacher training with Corina Benner’s Yin Yoga teacher training in 2010, Karen Safire’s Restorative Yoga teacher training in 2012, and Jillian Pransky’s Level II Restorative Yoga teacher training in 2016.
Cori is passionate about creating spaces where people are free to explore, express, and enjoy themselves in their truest fashions. A lifelong student herself, she genuinely enjoys the challenges, lessons, and rewards of self-discovery and self-realization (both exploring them in her own life and facilitating these journeys in her students’ lives). Cori aims to make the physical and spiritual practices of yoga accessible to any and all who are curious, and welcomes students from all backgrounds and experience levels into her classes.
Cori completed her 200-hour certification with Yoga on Main and is a certified Reiki practitioner. When she’s not on a yoga mat, you can find her exploring outside, spending time with one of her pets, or vibing out at a concert (she loves everything from Classical — she’s a classically trained flutist! — to electronic music).
Jaime (she/her) is a South Philadelphia native who turned to yoga asana during the pandemic as a way to connect deeper to self after some life-changing events. She has since completed 500 hours of trauma-informed, Yin and Restorative focused yoga teacher training with the Ashé Yoga School. She is passionate about setting a container that offers all practitioners the ability to find each shape in their bodies and the agency to be in their own experience.
Maggie was first introduced to yoga as a child , watching videos with her mother. She began practicing regularly over a decade ago while attending university, diving in head first to the full spectrum of modalities that lie. Maggie views yoga as an essential part of a well rounded life, the lessons it provides both on and off the mat consistently provide her with an appreciation for the resilience of her body and mind, after years of practice she still believes she becomes a better person every time she steps onto the mat. Maggie is a trained dancer and movement specialists and her classes provide a skillful balance of strength and grace.
Sarah received her certification from Harlem Yoga Studio in 2017 and has enjoyed teaching ever since. She is passionate about making yoga inclusive, accessible, empowering and fun to all regardless of shape, size, race, class, gender identity or background. Sarah believes movement is medicine and enjoys encouraging others to exceed their expectations. In her classes you can expect challenging but approachable flows, thoughtful sequencing and a supportive atmosphere.
Kristen Bashore is a Pennsylvania native. She obtained her 200 hour yoga teacher certification in July 2018 and has been practicing yoga since 2012. She specializes in slow flow and Restorative, as well as Yin Yoga and meditation.
In her previous life, Kristen was a dancer and received her BFA in dance performance from Temple University in 2017. She still enjoys the art of dance through teaching children and teens.
Kristen is passionate about making all types of movement and mind-body wellness accessible. She especially enjoys teaching people who are new to yoga and meditation, creating a space that is welcome to all, no matter the knowledge or skill level.
When she is not on her mat, you can find Kristen making multi-media art, roller skating, or dancing.
Emma is an alignment-based yoga instructor who focuses on cultivating a fun, informative space for students to build confidence and self-awareness through intentional movement. She creates accessible classes to meet new or returning students where they are and has training on pose variations and props to encourage students to play to their edge, no matter their level of knowledge. She completed teacher training at Three Queens Yoga in 2023 where she learned the intersection of yoga, social justice, and collective healing. All of her classes are centered around the breath and its ability to deepen our connection to ourselves and to one another.
Bally was introduced to the practice of yoga through a friend, attending a class of theirs soon after their graduation from teacher training. Although she was initially skeptical of the benefits of the practice she soon saw the positive effects manifesting in her own life. Yoga has enhanced Bally’s capacity for personal healing as well as creating and holding space for others. When not teaching Vinyasa, Bally applies the principles she has learned through yoga to her career in the mental health field. Bally’s classes offer an exciting synergy of eastern and western philosophies in the arena of wellness.
